2nd Cutter (Meat Department Assistant)


Job Summary

The 2nd Cutter supports the Meat Department Manager in delivering high-quality fresh meat products and excellent customer service. This role is responsible for assisting with meat cutting, grinding, wrapping, stocking, and maintaining an attractive, well-stocked service case. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in working as part of a team. Training is available for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cut, grind, wrap, and package fresh meat products according to store standards
  • Stock and rotate product in display cases to ensure freshness and proper presentation
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service and assist with special requests
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Follow all store procedures, food safety guidelines, and sanitation standards
  • Assist with receiving, labeling, and proper storage of meat products
  • Monitor product quality, dates, and inventory levels
  • Work collaboratively with the Meat Department team to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Step in to support cutting and department operations when the Meat Manager is off

Qualifications

  • Meat cutting or grocery experience preferred, but not required
  • Willingness to learn and follow proper cutting, food safety, and sanitation procedures
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 100 lbs
  • Reliable, punctual, and customer-focused
